چکیده

The present study was carried out for an oil field located in the upper Magdalena Valley basin, Colombia, which successful hydraulic fracturing a well, we denote fractured. main objective is to replicate this technique existing well same field. For work, electrical logs from twelve wells, including fractured were analyzed obtain correlation between area of interest, Monserrate Formation, and each wells under study. By using gamma ray, resistivity, neutron density logs, petrophysical properties calculated determine shale volume, effective porosity, total water saturation permeability well. Additionally, production history calculations described above used suggest new site where could also be successful. Two candidates proposed study, one based on similarity its properties, another consideration additional data. Notably, stimulation has global importance produced positive impacts increased it been implemented. purpose provide technical support decision procedure

Hydraulic Fracturing and Seismicity in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin

The development of most unconventional oil and gas resources relies upon subsurface injection of very large volumes of fluids, which can induce earthquakes by activating slip on a nearby fault. During the last 5 years, accelerated oilfield fluid injection has led to a sharp increase in the rate of earthquakes in some parts of North America. In the central United States, most induced seismicity ...

Natural Enzootic Vectors of Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus in the Magdalena Valley, Colombia

To characterize the transmission cycle of enzootic Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEEV) strains believed to represent an epizootic progenitor, we identified natural vectors in a sylvatic focus in the middle Magdalena Valley of Colombia. Hamster-baited traps were placed into an active forest focus, and mosquitoes collected from each trap in which a hamster became infected were sorted by s...

Five new species of Hemibrycon (Characiformes: Characidae) from the Río Magdalena basin, Colombia.

Five new fish species of the genus Hemibrycon are described from the Río Magdalena basin, Colombia, using morphometric, meristic and osteological characters. Hemibrycon paez (n=40) differs in number of lateral line scales (39 to 42 vs. 43 to 54), by the number of scales between lateral line and anal-fin origin (6 to 7 vs. 4 to 5) and between lateral line and dorsal-fin origin (6 to 7 vs. 8); H....

Breeding sites of Culicoides pachymerus Lutz in the Magdalena River basin, Colombia.

The breeding sites of Culicoides pachymerus are described for the first time in western Boyacá Province, Colombia, where this species is a public health problem. In addition to being a nuisance due to its enormous density and its high biting rates, C. pachymerus cause dermatological problems in the human population. Analysis of microhabitats by the sugar flotation technique and the use of emerg...
